Hiten wins Sapoin backing for heat-resistant forging dies
The Japanese tooling manufacturer will develop alloy dies for hot forging of high-strength materials.
Hiten has been selected for Japan’s FY2019 Sapoin research programme, announced on June 4, 2019. The company’s project develops heat-resistant alloy dies to improve the productivity of hot forging.
The research addresses the growing use of high-strength materials in automotive and aircraft components. These materials can deliver strength, lower weight and resistance to heat, but require forging tools able to withstand demanding processing conditions. Hiten will develop new die technology around those requirements.
Public University Corporation Osaka is the project’s administering institution. Hiten designs and manufactures dies and related tooling for cold and hot forging.
