OptQC completes ¥1.5bn Series A1 for optical quantum computing

Global Brain led the follow-on round, supporting processor development, equipment investment and recruitment.

OptQC completed a ¥1.5 billion Series A1 equity round, announced on October 22, 2025. Global Brain’s Flagship Fund IX led the financing, with UTokyo IPC’s AOI 1 Fund, Delight Ventures and the Japan Science and Technology Agency participating.

Advancing optical quantum hardware

The proceeds will focus on development of an optical quantum computer with 10,000 quantum-mode inputs under a NEDO research programme. OptQC also planned to recruit researchers and invest in equipment as it advanced a new processor.

The round followed its ¥650 million seed financing in January 2025, bringing cumulative equity funding at that time to ¥2.15 billion. The company’s larger future funding plans were development targets rather than proceeds of this Series A1 close.
