MSD for Mothers backs Helium Health maternal care coalition in Nigeria

The FOR M(om) programme combines digital records, provider training and access to facility financing.

Helium Health’s FOR M(om) coalition received support through MSD for Mothers’ Strengthening Systems for Safer Childbirth initiative. The grantmaker announced its first six coalitions on 21 September 2022. Helium Health’s allocation was not disclosed.

Working with SCIDaR and AFRIDA, Helium Health combines digital patient records, training and access to financing for maternal healthcare facilities in Lagos, Kano and Delta states. The programme aims to improve the quality and accessibility of care by addressing operational and financial barriers faced by providers.

MSD for Mothers, known as Merck for Mothers in the United States and Canada, is Merck & Co.’s maternal health initiative. FOR M(om) was one of its six locally led coalitions across Nigeria, Kenya, Sierra Leone and India.
