Biograil receives more than DKK4m for oral drug delivery research
The Innobooster grant supports preclinical, manufacturing and regulatory work on Biograil’s BIONDD capsule ahead of planned human trials.
Biograil announced a second Innobooster grant of more than DKK4 million on 14 March 2022. The non-dilutive funding was intended to advance its BIONDD oral drug delivery technology alongside internal company funds.
The Danish biotechnology company planned preclinical, manufacturing and regulatory work to prepare for Phase 1 studies. The project included technical partners SPT Vilecon, Bioneer and Scantox.
BIONDD is designed to deliver medicines through the gastrointestinal wall from a swallowable capsule. Biograil’s aim is to offer an oral route for biologic treatments that would otherwise require injection. The grant financed development and trial preparation; the announcement did not report approval to begin human studies.
