Zebras and Company launched with approximately ¥100m in financing
The June 2021 raise supported a corporate investment and management-support business focused on social impact and sustainable operations.
Zebras and Company announced on 21 June 2021 that it had raised approximately ¥100 million and was beginning full-scale operations. Named investors were Japan Social Innovation and Investment Foundation (SIIF), Hinoki Co., Ltd., Mio & Company Inc., Hidekuni Takagi and Mirai Turbo Co., Ltd., now Wisteria Co., Ltd.
The company planned to invest in businesses combining social purpose and commercial sustainability, alongside management support, research and community building. Its initial plan was to back four to six businesses over five years.
Zebras and Company chose to invest through a company structure to support longer holding periods and financing approaches suited to each business. Its wider work included collaboration with public bodies, financial institutions and international partners.
The founding financing is separate from the combined company-equity and lending-fund programme announced in November 2026.
