Simulacra raises pre-seed funding from ANRI for human digital twins

The University of Tokyo spinout will develop AI models that simulate individual and social decisions.

Simulacra has completed pre-seed financing from ANRI through the investor’s Pre-Seed Program. The amount was not disclosed.

The company builds foundation models that reproduce how individuals think and act, then combines those models to simulate the responses of groups and societies. Its interview AI gathers information about people’s values and preferences to support those models.

Founded in September 2025 from the University of Tokyo’s Izumi Laboratory, Simulacra plans to use the funding for research and development, hiring, and joint research with companies and municipalities. Its proposed applications include consumer research, economic modelling and urban planning.
