Moffett AI raises nearly CNY1 billion for sparse inference chips
The financing will support next-generation chip research, hardware and software upgrades, and an industry-academic alliance.
Moffett AI has completed a financing round of nearly CNY1 billion, according to a November 3 company interview published by Chip Things and republished by 36Kr. Participants include Renai Capital, Haitang Fund, Dongheng Petroleum, Biqiu Capital, Paila Capital and Zhongcai Capital. The report did not name a round stage.
The proceeds will support upgrades across Moffett’s sparse inference chip hardware and software, research into its next chip generation, and the development of a sparse-computing alliance linking industry and universities. The company plans to introduce its SP200 accelerator card before year-end and is preparing an updated SECA software stack.
The company’s commercial focus is inference workloads where skipping unnecessary calculations can reduce operating costs. Marketing vice president Guo Weijun described deployments for data-centre and industry customers, including remote-sensing image analysis and mixed hardware environments. The latest financing follows another round of nearly CNY1 billion about five months earlier; the reported near-CNY2 billion figure covers both rounds.
