illumion raises £1.7m for battery imaging commercialisation
Foresight Group and ZEISS Ventures co-led the follow-on funding, supporting the rollout of illumionONE and development of the industrial illumionX platform.
Optics and venture investors back the next phase
illumion has raised £1.7 million in a seed follow-on round co-led by Foresight Group and ZEISS Ventures. Parkwalk, Cambridge Enterprise Ventures, Cambridge Angels and YourVC also participated. The financing was reported on 9 October, with investors publishing further announcements later in the month.
From particle-level images to industrial tools
The capital will support commercialisation, the product roadmap and work with battery researchers, developers and industrial partners. illumion is expanding its illumionONE imaging platform while developing illumionX for selected industrial applications.
The company’s charge photometry technology shows how individual particles behave inside a working battery. That offers researchers a way to connect material behaviour with performance, while the next platform aims to bring those insights into industrial development and quality control.
