FarmInsect closes €8 million Series A led by Sandwater

The 2023 round supported commercial expansion of its decentralised insect-farming systems and further research.

FarmInsect announced an oversubscribed €8 million Series A on October 23, 2023, led by Sandwater. Participants included Bavarian Growth Fund 2, managed by Bayern Kapital, the Minderoo Foundation Strategic Impact Fund and EIC Fund. Existing investors High-Tech Gründerfonds and UnternehmerTUM Funding for Innovators also participated.

The funding supported commercial scale-up and research into the company’s insect-farming technology. Its modular systems enabled farmers to rear black soldier fly larvae on site using locally available residues, with young larvae supplied regularly and software guiding production.
