Candi Solar gains REPIC backing for rooftop solar pilot in India
Swiss programme REPIC supports a pilot aimed at making rooftop solar accessible to Indian small and medium-sized businesses through power purchase agreements.
Candi Solar has secured support from REPIC, Switzerland’s interdepartmental renewable energy programme, for its Indian SME Rooftops pilot. The project aims to install 600 kWp of solar capacity for schools and small and medium-sized businesses.
Customers avoid upfront installation costs and pay for electricity over time, with the model designed to let them own the solar system within roughly ten years. Candi combines financing and project development with local construction and maintenance partners.
The pilot also tests mounting technology from Montavent that allows panels to be installed and removed quickly. If a customer defaults, the system can be moved to another site, helping Candi limit project risk while serving businesses that struggle to finance their own solar installations.
