Candela secures €30m to expand electric ferry manufacturing

IFC joins existing investors as Candela prepares a second factory for its hydrofoil vessels.

Candela secured €30 million in financing first reported on March 2, 2026 and confirmed by the company on March 18. International Finance Corporation contributed €8 million alongside existing shareholders EQT Ventures, SEB Private Equity, KanDela AB and Ocean Zero LLC.

The funding will support a second manufacturing facility in Poland to increase production of Candela’s P-12 electric ferries. The Swedish company is moving toward repeatable production as orders and international deployments grow.

Candela’s computer-controlled hydrofoils lift the hull above the water to reduce drag. That lower energy requirement helps electric ferries cover useful passenger routes while reducing running costs for transport operators.
