Eni invests $225m in EnergyX’s Black Giant lithium project
The project investment will advance direct lithium extraction in Chile, with Eni taking a minority stake.
Eni agreed a $225 million equity investment in EnergyX’s Black Giant lithium project on July 6, 2026. The binding agreements give Eni a minority project stake and rights to take up to approximately 25% of future lithium output.
The capital will advance commercial development using EnergyX’s GET-Lit direct lithium extraction technology. The first two planned phases target 52,500 tonnes of lithium carbonate a year, with Eni also contributing technical and upstream development expertise.
