AirMembrane outlines ¥850m package for graphene pellicle production
Equity, borrowing and NEDO support will help the Japanese materials company build pilot and mass-production capabilities.
AirMembrane announced an approximately ¥850 million financing package combining equity, loans from Sumitomo Mitsui Banking and NEDO programme support. Global Brain Flagship Fund IX led the equity investment, alongside TAKANAWA GATEWAY Global Co-Benefits Fund L.P., Shinhan-GB FutureFlow Fund L.P., A Start, NextG Fund and Mitsubishi UFJ Capital No. 9 Fund.
The company plans pilot production of graphene EUV pellicles in 2027 and a mass-production line in 2028. The thin protective films keep particles off lithography photomasks while letting extreme ultraviolet light pass through. Funding will support production equipment and engineering and business hiring.
The package includes NEDO GX programme support for which AirMembrane announced selection in November 2025. The company did not disclose the allocation between equity, borrowing and grants. Its approximately ¥1 billion cumulative funding total includes the current package.
