ViridiCO2 raises £3 million seed round led by EQT Ventures

The Southampton spinout will accelerate development and commercialisation of its carbon utilisation catalysts.

ViridiCO2 raised £3 million in seed funding led by EQT Ventures in March 2023. The investment backed development and commercialisation of technology that converts waste carbon dioxide into useful chemical products.

The University of Southampton spinout develops catalysts that let manufacturers replace part of their petrochemical feedstock with captured carbon dioxide. Potential applications include ingredients for personal care products, furniture and clothing.

The financing supported work to move the technology towards adoption by chemical manufacturers. Daniel Stewart and Robert Raja founded the business following research at Southampton.
