TV TOKYO Holdings commits $2 million to Nakama

The strategic investment supports AniBiz, Nakama’s marketplace for international anime licensing.

TV TOKYO Holdings has decided to invest $2 million in Nakama, the San Francisco company operating anime licensing platform AniBiz. The Japanese broadcaster’s holding company announced the commitment on October 28, 2026.

The partnership gives TV TOKYO a route to develop international merchandising, gaming and other licensing opportunities for anime properties in which it holds rights. It also supports AniBiz’s growth as a meeting place for rights holders and potential commercial partners.

AniBiz launched in July 2026 and had attracted more than 30 licensors by the announcement. Nakama was established by members of the team behind Crunchyroll, led by CEO Brady McCollum and co-founder Kun Gao.
