Medikea raises $1.2m pre-seed for its Tanzanian healthcare network

The company is expanding a care model that combines remote consultations with clinics, diagnostics and pharmacies.

The financing brings together Baobab Network, Catalyst Fund, develoPPP Ventures, Madica, Impacc, Hustle Fund, O’Shaughnessy Ventures, Madiro, the Boehringer Ingelheim Foundation and an angel investor. Madica had previously announced its participation in an earlier pre-seed tranche.

Medikea said part of the capital has already supported new clinics in Arusha and Morogoro, bringing its network to four facilities. Owning more of the care pathway lets it connect examinations, tests, prescriptions and follow-up, while retaining control over service delivery.

Use of funds

Expand the clinic network and hire staff.
