JAOPS raises ¥260m seed for shared spacecraft operations
UntroD Capital Japan and Midtown Frontier Fund back the Tokyo company’s Operations as a Service model.
An operating team beyond the spacecraft builder
JAOPS already serves customers in six countries, according to its announcement. Its service gives mission owners access to control tools and experienced operators without requiring them to build a complete operations organisation themselves.
The company works from mission design through simulation and flight operations. Connecting control systems during development lets teams rehearse procedures and test interfaces before they have to use them in space.
The seed follows earlier support from JAXA’s Space Strategy Fund and the Tokyo government. Those programmes helped establish the business’s operations capability before the new investor financing.
