Concretene closes £4.5m first tranche of Series A for graphene concrete
NPIF II - PXN Equity Finance, LocalGlobe and Molten Ventures back manufacturing scale-up and industrial trials of Concretene’s concrete admixture.
A first close for industrial scale-up
Concretene has raised £4.5 million in the first close of its Series A. The financing includes £2 million from NPIF II - PXN Equity Finance, managed by PXN Ventures, alongside investment from existing backers LocalGlobe and Molten Ventures.
The company announced the first close during a ministerial visit to its Manchester testing facility on 23 October. It plans to use the money for industrial-scale admixture production, concrete trials with industry partners and its Manchester graphene programme.
Testing the route to wider adoption
The next step is to move from laboratory and earlier scaled trials into larger manufacturing volumes. Concretene says previous tests showed the potential to remove 10–20% of cement from commonly used concrete mixes while retaining performance. Its programme with Levidian also aims to manufacture graphene using local wastewater biogas from United Utilities.
