Tokyo Gas invests in AIVALIX for AI-based infrastructure maintenance

The partnership begins with water-network applications, linking AIVALIX’s risk-prediction tools with Tokyo Gas group asset-management systems.

AIVALIX has raised equity from Tokyo Gas through a third-party share allotment and begun a business partnership with the energy group. The University of Tokyo startup announced the transaction on August 28, 2026. The investment amount was not disclosed.

Expanding the business

The companies will first focus on water infrastructure. They are exploring how AIVALIX’s INFRAI deterioration and risk-prediction functions can work with the TUMSY mapping and asset-register solution offered by Tokyo Gas Engineering Solutions.

The goal is to extend equipment records into tools for deciding which pipes to renew, prioritizing investment and explaining plans to residents and public bodies. AIVALIX brings AI analysis of asset, inspection and failure data; the Tokyo Gas group contributes operating knowledge and relationships with infrastructure customers.

Over time, the partners plan to assess applications in gas pipelines, LNG facilities, district heating and other infrastructure. The investment is Tokyo Gas’s first corporate investment in AIVALIX and provides a basis for pursuing that development together.
