Testing a high-energy laser architecture
Xcimer’s electron-beam-pumped excimer system is designed to deliver repeated, high-energy pulses. The architecture could support inertial-fusion power, where laser pulses drive fuel compression, as well as directed-energy systems; the company is testing key elements of the design through its Phoenix system while both applications remain in development.
