Usawa Care raises $3 million seed to broaden its digital care service
The Lisbon company began with pediatric support over WhatsApp and plans to add adult care.
Care that follows the family
Parents use WhatsApp to ask Usawa’s pediatricians about symptoms, development and everyday health questions. The service offers follow-up with a chosen family pediatrician, with another clinician available when that doctor is unavailable. In its first market, the company says it serves 12,000 registered children with a network of 23 pediatricians.
The company’s September announcement said it would use the seed financing to prepare an adult-care service and enter the United States. Those were plans at the time of the announcement; the currently documented service remains focused on pediatric care.
A wider digital-care offer
Usawa is extending a care model that already combines asynchronous messaging, clinician access and continuity over time. Product, engineering and compliance hiring is intended to support the new service and its expansion.
