RadioNano Therapeutics wins JPY3m innovation research grant

Ikeda Senshu Bank’s grand prize supports development of boron nanoparticle formulations for cancer radiotherapy.

RadioNano Therapeutics has won the JPY3 million grand prize in Ikeda Senshu Bank’s 22nd Innovation Research and Development Grant programme, announced on March 2.

The award recognises its work to bring a new boron-containing nanoparticle formulation into use for boron neutron capture therapy, or BNCT. The selected project lists Kyoto University as its collaborating institution.

RadioNano develops nanoparticle formulations designed to deliver boron to tumour tissue. In BNCT, irradiation with neutrons triggers a local reaction in boron-containing cells; the company aims to use its formulation technology to broaden the cancers that the treatment can address.
