Photon raises $4.5 million seed for agents inside messaging apps
Gradient and A* co-led the financing for infrastructure that connects developers’ agents to familiar communication channels.
Photon announced its seed round on 1 October 2026 with Gradient and A* as co-leads. The bet is that AI products can reach users through existing conversations rather than requiring each customer to adopt another application.
Gradient highlighted the operational challenge behind that proposition: a developer must handle identity, conversation state, delivery and analytics across different channels. Photon packages those functions into infrastructure so a team can concentrate on what its agent does for the user.
The investor also pointed to capabilities messaging platforms already provide, including group conversations, feedback reactions and rich media. Those interfaces give an agent ways to respond beyond a plain text answer.
