Nearhuman receives Innovate UK support for efficient physical AI research
The Frontier AI Discovery award funds feasibility work on AI that operates within constrained physical devices.
Nearhuman announced funding from Innovate UK’s Frontier AI Discovery programme on 13 October 2026. The company did not disclose the award amount.
The Bristol business will investigate computationally efficient approaches to AI for physical machines, where processing power, memory and energy are constrained. The project focuses on technical feasibility and evidence to guide further research and development.
Nearhuman’s initial commercial work applies on-device computer vision to shared scooters and bicycles. The research award follows its separate £350,000 pre-seed round led by SFC Capital.
