Fluxnium raises $7m seed to recover uranium from seawater
Congruent Ventures led the round to advance pilot testing of Fluxnium’s adsorbent-fiber technology.
A new route to uranium recovery
Fluxnium is developing an adsorbent fiber that captures dissolved uranium as seawater moves past it. The company deploys the material on offshore longlines, then retrieves and processes the fiber to recover uranium; it can be redeployed after extraction.
The seed funding will support development, pilot testing and scale-up. Fluxnium is working toward a domestic source of uranium that could complement conventional mining, with the fiber deployed on marine infrastructure rather than mined from ore deposits.
