Charm Care commits ¥300m to Donut Robotics for eldercare humanoids
The care-home operator will subscribe for ordinary shares as the partners develop cinnamon robots using experience from an operating-facility pilot.
Donut Robotics has agreed a capital and business partnership with Charm Care Corporation, which will subscribe for ¥300 million of the humanoid developer’s ordinary shares. The companies announced the agreement on August 31, 2026.
Developing the partnership
The partnership builds on a pilot that began in July at a Charm Care elderly-care home. The cinnamon humanoid is initially being used for conversation and communication with residents, giving the development team a setting in which to learn from everyday use.
The companies plan to expand the robot’s role in stages, including strengthening patrol functions and developing responses to nurse calls. The programme links Donut Robotics’ technical work with Charm Care’s knowledge of the practical tasks and safety requirements within care homes.
The agreement is intended to support a longer-term joint development relationship. A roadmap and further proprietary technology are scheduled to be presented at a Donut Robotics event toward the end of 2026.
