The Alameda, California company uses a multi-injection accelerator: timed bursts of pressurised gas push a projectile along a long barrel. It is developing the technology for defence testing and eventually orbital launch.
Longshot is led by co-founder and CEO Mike Grace and CTO Nato Saichek. Its approach keeps much of the launch infrastructure on the ground, with the aim of reducing the cost of moving payloads at high speed.
