Connecting compute to more memory

The planned A-1 inference system uses an optical fabric to connect multiple memory chips into a shared pool. Volantis is designing small laser components specifically for the short distances between compute and memory, aiming to add memory capacity without the same bandwidth constraint as electrical connections.

Engineering toward customer delivery

The $88 million Series A will fund development and commercialization of A-1, including engineering hires and preparation for customer deployments. Lachy Groom and Abstract Ventures co-led the round. The company plans to deliver its first integrated inference engines in 2027.
