Volantis is developing a new inference architecture that uses photonics to address the trade-off between memory capacity and bandwidth. Its first system, A-1, is designed for models exceeding 20 trillion parameters and a target of up to 10,000 tokens per second per user, aiming to reduce inference cost per token for large AI workloads.
