SurfAce Cleantech raises CHF 250,000 for compostable packaging technology
Its coating is designed to reinforce bioplastic films on existing printing lines.
A coating that fits the converter’s process
SurfAce’s composite coating is applied to bioplastic film using flexographic printing equipment, much like an ink layer. It is designed to add mechanical strength while preserving existing production speeds, potentially allowing packaging makers to use thinner material without sacrificing handling performance.
The approach targets converters and brands seeking compostable packaging that works with familiar manufacturing lines. Its formulation can be adapted to different biopolymer films and patterned for specific uses; the company’s public plan places market readiness in 2027, after industrial validation and certification work.
