Suniva secures $835 million in debt and equity for solar-cell expansion

The financing supports a new 4.5 GW solar-cell factory in South Carolina.

Suniva announced the financing on September 8, 2026. Electron Capital Partners, OIC and Rubric Capital Management supplied equity. Funds managed by Goldman Sachs Alternatives and I Squared Capital provided senior secured credit, while JBA Asset Management provided second-lien financing. Longtime backer Lion Point Capital also participated.

The planned factory would bring Suniva’s combined annual cell capacity to 5.5 GW. Its roughly $600 million project cost is separate from the total financing package.
