SpectaCell launches with €6m seed for cell therapy analytics
imec.xpand leads funding for a Ghent spinout developing chip-based single-cell analysis.
SpectaCell announced its launch with €6 million in seed funding on 9 October 2026. imec.xpand led the round, with Flanders Future Tech Fund, InnovationQuarter Capital, QBIC and VIB participating.
The Ghent company spun out of imec, VIB and Ghent University. Its platform combines chip-based imaging and data analysis to track individual cells and their interactions, helping developers understand how candidate treatments affect cells over time.
The financing will fund further development and commercialisation with pharmaceutical and biotechnology partners. SpectaCell is building a cartridge-based instrument intended to support drug research, process development and manufacturing quality checks.
