Smolt raises about ¥200 million in pre-Series A extension
The aquaculture company breeds cherry salmon selected for warmer water and produces salmon roe through its fish-farming network.
Selective breeding for warmer waters
Smolt has bred cherry salmon through seven generations of selection without gene editing, developing fish that can grow in water around 24°C. It supplies seed stock to aquaculture operators and also raises fish and produces Tsukimi Ikura, a salmon-roe product. The company works with regional producers, bringing its breeding and production methods to partner farms.
