Silvia Bio raises £3m seed for biomanufacturing technology
Northern Gritstone led the round supporting laboratory expansion, hiring and new products.
Silvia Bio raised £3 million in seed funding led by Northern Gritstone, with Parkwalk Northern Universities Venture Fund, the UK Innovation & Science Seed Fund, Wren Capital and angel investors participating. The investment was announced on October 15.
The Sheffield spinout identifies bottlenecks in cells used to produce biological medicines and develops media additives to address them. The funding will support dedicated laboratory space, a larger team, process automation and development of new licensable products.
