Senticell raises $7M seed to advance red blood cell liquid biopsy
Two prospective studies at Penn Medicine are evaluating the platform across four cancer cohorts.
A different signal in a blood sample
Senticell’s liquid-biopsy platform isolates and analyzes nucleic acids associated with red blood cells to look for oncogenic driver mutations. The company is pursuing signals in early-stage disease and low-shedding tumors that plasma-based testing may miss, an approach now being evaluated in prospective clinical studies.
Two studies underway at Penn Medicine are enrolling patients with lung, pancreatic, head and neck, and cervical cancers. The $7 million seed round, with The Venture City, Capital Factory, Scalpel Ventures and Evoce Capital among the backers, supports the platform’s oncology development and this clinical work.
