Lockheed Martin invests $50m in Saildrone for maritime autonomy
The companies will combine autonomous surface vessels with defense systems for U.S. Navy missions.
Lockheed Martin announced a $50 million investment in Saildrone on October 29, 2025, alongside a collaboration to integrate its defense technology with Saildrone’s unmanned surface vessels.
The companies planned to begin integration work immediately and carry out on-water demonstrations in 2026. The partnership connects Saildrone’s autonomous maritime platforms with Lockheed Martin’s established naval systems.
Saildrone builds and operates vessels for surveillance, ocean mapping and other marine missions. Its fleet combines onboard sensors and autonomous navigation with remote mission operations, allowing customers to collect information over extended periods at sea.
