Rune raises $40m Series A to deploy compute at solar sites
Spark Capital led the round for Rune’s modular system, which connects GPU clusters directly to renewable-energy generation.
Compute infrastructure beside renewable power
Rune’s RELIC system installs modular GPU capacity at solar sites and runs directly from their DC power infrastructure. The company says the setup can bring compute online without conventional data-center construction, a grid connection or water-intensive cooling, turning otherwise underused generation into computing capacity.
Deployments are sized from eight to 1,024 GPUs, and Rune reports live installations across three continents, including a system at a 200-megawatt solar facility in Texas. The Series A brought the company’s total funding to $53.5 million.
