RheoCarti receives CHF 150,000 in Venture Kick support
The ETH Zurich spinout is developing a titanium and hydrogel implant surface designed to behave more like natural cartilage.
A different bearing surface for joint implants
RheoCarti combines titanium with a hydrogel surface designed to reduce friction and absorb shock in a way that more closely resembles cartilage. The team is developing hip resurfacing and total hip replacement implants, with potential to adapt the platform to other joints.
Advancing an ETH research project
The technology grew out of biomechanics and medical-device research at ETH Zurich. The team is advancing the implant toward preclinical validation, with veterinary hip replacement as an initial development path.
