Ravel raises $8.2m seed to scale textile recycling
One Small Planet led the round for a process that separates reusable material from blended-fiber textile waste.
Separating fibers conventional recycling leaves behind
Ravel’s Purification Recycling process is designed to recover high-purity material from complex blended fabrics, including poly-elastane mixes that are difficult to return to textile production. The company says its low-energy, non-destructive approach produces mono-material fiber that can be used as a drop-in input for new textiles.
The financing is intended to move the company from its Seattle pilot plant toward commercial-scale operations. That expansion targets textile waste that often ends up in landfill or is downcycled because its fibers are difficult to separate.
