Polaris Electro-Optics raises $50m for photonics platform
Walden Catalyst Ventures led the financing for FenGlass modulators designed to move data through AI and data-center systems at lower power.
Moving more data with less electrical power
Polaris integrates its FenGlass electro-optic material onto finished silicon-photonics wafers to create modulators for high-speed optical links. The company says the technology can support 400 gigabits per second per lane and beyond at sub-volt drive levels, addressing the power and bandwidth demands of AI infrastructure.
Module makers, hyperscalers and system integrators are among its intended customers. Polaris plans its first commercial product launch for 2027, with engineering work now focused on product qualification and integration with established silicon-photonics manufacturing processes.
