Nexstrom raises $12m seed to scale 2D semiconductor materials
Xora Innovation led the financing for a wafer-scale process designed to grow atomically thin materials within existing foundry workflows.
Growing atomically thin materials on foundry wafers
Nexstrom combines chemical-vapor-deposition equipment and process controls to grow single-crystal, two-dimensional semiconductor materials on 300-millimeter wafers. Its North Star platform is designed to fit existing foundry workflows, with materials that could serve as transistor channels in future AI chips.
The company says it has delivered samples to industry partners as it develops the platform toward commercial use. The seed round brings Nexstrom’s total funding to $15 million.
