Neela Biotech wins Innovate UK Growth Catalyst grant
The Cambridge startup will use the grant to develop its microbial process for converting waste into aviation-fuel feedstocks.
Neela Biotech announced on 6 November 2025 that it had secured a grant through Innovate UK’s Growth Catalyst programme for early-stage startups. The company described it as its second grant and did not disclose the award amount.
The support will accelerate experimental development of Controlled Microbial Upcycling, Neela’s process for converting waste into feedstocks for sustainable fuels. The company combines synthetic biology and AI in its development work and aims to make aviation fuel with lower emissions and competitive production costs.
