Mironid raises $46m Series B for inherited kidney disease programme

The Scottish National Investment Bank joins existing backers supporting clinical development of the company’s LoAc small molecule.

Backing the move into clinical development

The new investor joins Roche Venture Fund, Epidarex Capital, Sofinnova Partners, BioGeneration Ventures and the University of Strathclyde. The syndicate is backing a programme aimed at autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease, or ADPKD.

Mironid’s approach targets cyclic AMP, a signalling molecule involved in the formation and growth of kidney cysts. The financing follows preclinical work that the company says reduced cyst formation and kidney volume in disease models.

The next stage will test the drug candidate in clinical development, building on that earlier research.
