MCatalysis raises $5M seed round to build an industrial fuel pilot in Lyon
The London company is developing modular microwave-driven refining that turns waste and other hydrocarbon feedstocks into liquid fuels; the seed capital will fund a pilot at Axel One.
A distributed route from waste carbon to liquid fuels
MCatalysis uses microwave-driven catalysts and smart materials to process off-gas, waste plastics and biomass into drop-in fuels. By placing modular refining units near available feedstocks, the company aims to give industrial fuel and chemical producers a way to use local material streams within existing markets.
The $5 million seed round, led by HL Energy Ventures and Oxford Science Enterprises, will support an industrial pilot at Axel One in Lyon. The financing is separate from a UKRI award mentioned in coverage, which is not included in the round total.
