HexSeed secures over £600,000 for diamond-coated power chips
The Scottish materials startup is moving toward tests on commercial gallium nitride devices.
HexSeed’s early backing also unlocks an Innovate UK Partnership Grant that had been awarded conditionally. The financing gives the company a route from laboratory experiments toward a manufacturing process that semiconductor suppliers could adopt.
In an interview with Carbon13, the founders outlined a staged approach: establish a proof of concept, run a pilot and then license the coating method. They intend to integrate it into existing fabrication lines rather than build a large semiconductor factory themselves.
