Happy Smile raises equity from Saitama’s Shibusawa MIX fund

The photo-sales platform will use the investment to recruit developers and strengthen its organization as it expands its services.

Happy Smile has raised equity from the Saitama Shibusawa MIX Innovation Creation Support Fund to expand its development team and strengthen the organization behind its photo-sales platform. Payment for the new shares was completed on August 31, 2026. The investment amount was not disclosed.

Hiring for the next stage of the platform

The company plans to direct the proceeds toward recruitment, particularly software developers, as it develops new services alongside its existing business. Chief executive Kenichi Sato described the investment as support for building the next generation of the platform.

Happy Smile’s Minna no Omoide.com manages the sale and fulfilment of photographs for organizations including childcare providers, schools and sports groups. Product development and a larger team are intended to improve the experience for both the groups selling pictures and the people buying them.

The investor is a regional support fund established with Saitama Prefecture, Japan Finance Corporation, local financial institutions and Mirai Door. Its mandate includes providing capital to young businesses and supporting regional innovation.
