Good Tape takes €600k backing as it turns interview archives into a research tool
The Copenhagen company’s independence from Zetland coincides with Explore, which connects new recordings to earlier conversations and the evidence behind them.
Good Tape has taken investment from Nordic Makers, with EU-Startups reporting a €600,000 round. The financing accompanied a change in ownership: CEO Lasse Finderup and his co-founder took over the stake held by Zetland, the newsroom where the transcription service began. Finderup told Tech.eu that the former spin-out structure had made attracting outside investment difficult.
The associated product launch, Explore, tackles the next task after an interview has been transcribed. A new conversation is compared with a user’s existing archive to surface relevant earlier statements, possible contradictions and supporting arguments. Links to the original recording let a journalist or researcher inspect the evidence and its context.
That changes the value of keeping interviews together. A transcript saves work on one recording; a connected archive can help reveal how a source’s position has developed across months of conversations. Good Tape’s next opportunity is to make those accumulated records useful during research, while preserving the private workspace its professional users expect.
