Supabase raises $150m and acquires Turso for a world of per-agent databases

The backend platform is adapting to workloads that need large numbers of isolated databases, as coding agents create most of its new database instances.

Supabase has announced $150 million in new funding led by GIC alongside its acquisition of Turso. The financing follows a $500 million Series F four months earlier; the company did not give the new round a series label.

The acquisition addresses a different infrastructure problem from hosting one database for a conventional application. Agents may need isolated databases for individual tasks, and provisioning a dedicated machine each time adds overhead. Turso’s architecture allows many databases to be created on demand at low cost, giving Supabase a way to serve that multiplying workload.

Supabase says it now adds four million databases a month, with agents and AI tools creating 70% of them. It plans to keep Turso operating and provide a path into the wider Supabase ecosystem. The important commercial shift is from supplying the backend of an application to supporting the large number of temporary or specialized data environments its agents can generate.
