Exein raises $270m to secure machines running Physical AI
A $270m equity round backs Exein’s push from embedded device protection to autonomous defense for Physical AI.
Protection built into the device
Exein’s Photon architecture works at the operating-system kernel level, aiming to stop malicious code before it executes. Its Runtime platform monitors activity across deployed fleets, traces incidents and produces evidence for security teams. That puts defense close to the machines themselves, where connected products can take actions in the physical world.
Learning how machines behave
Exein says it is training a proprietary Physical AI security model on two years of machine telemetry from a footprint spanning more than two billion devices. The company plans to use it in autonomous security agents that can respond at machine speed. Photon is already launched; the foundation models remain in development, with first releases expected in Q1 2027.
Scaling beyond embedded protection
The financing gives Exein room to expand internationally and pursue acquisitions as security requirements spread across robotics, vehicles and other connected systems. The company also announced an expansion of its revolving credit facility, led by J.P. Morgan with KfW as an additional lender; that facility is separate from the $270 million equity round.
