Blackstone commits $5bn to the TPU cloud venture that became Crux AI
The May 2026 equity commitment backs a dedicated computing platform built with Google’s hardware and services.
Blackstone announced an initial $5 billion equity commitment to a new Google TPU cloud venture on May 18, 2026. The US business later launched under the Crux AI name in September.
The capital commitment supports dedicated AI computing infrastructure, with the first 500 megawatts planned for 2027. Google will supply TPUs, software and services. The announcement describes committed equity capital rather than an immediate cash draw.
